In the month of November both of our interpreters went on-site at two locations to reunite family members from the USA and Okinawa.
Miyako was sent to the Hyatt Hotel in Okinawa where she met our client and interpreted both in English and Japanese for 4 hours. Discussions included family issues such as the remains of a relative, left at their door step, with ashes in an urn. It was an interpreting session necessary to help both sides of the family understand important events and how they impact members of the family.
Our interpreter Rieko travelled to Miyako Island. Rieko was born and raised on Miyako Island, and is not only a professional interpreter between English and Japanese but she also understands the Miyako Hogen Language. Our client was meeting an older family member and in this case only a native Japanese speaker born on Miyako Island could understand this generation of Miyako Island Language.
Our client was thoroughly impressed by professionalism of our interpreters and their bright personalities.
She left us this message – ‘I cannot thank you enough for sending me both Reiko and Miyako! They both did a great job. Reiko was outstanding! My mother’s cousin really liked her and even paid her a fairly large tip out of gratitude. It was lovely!’
