Interpretation Work with Japanese & US Military Fire Departments

The past 7 weeks, Our Interpreter worked with the fire department on military installation bases across Japan. Did you know that the firefighters working for the U.S. military bases are local Japanese trained civilians and the Japanese fire department sets up the classes for them taught by instructors invited from the United States.
This time our Interpreter translated and interpreted the classes for brand new recruits that had no fire fighting experience at all. We started studying from the basic equipment, chemistry of the fires, rescue techniques, hazardous materials and many more topics about fire fighting safety.
There were many practical training situations in the class, our interpreter got to see the technique they had to learn and also experienced the training hands on. Each new recruit was brand new. However at the end of the course everyone passed all 4 different written exams and skill tests.
The most impressionable moment of this assignment was that our interpreter got to see the brand new recruits start to have the mindsets of real firefighters and they grew to want to learn more about fire and growing as a team.
Our Interpreter at Okinawa Translator took the same tests as the recruits and received the same certificates. Okinawa Translator offers different types of interpreting and translation services in all parts of Japan and now we can say we have a new specialty, fire fighting and safety.
